The August 27, 2020 meeting of the Portneuf Pioneer Chapter will be held online and will feature SUP President Wayne Hinton.  He will discuss the history of ZCMI and explain how an innovative plan for self-sufficiency warped into “good old American capitalism”. 

The meeting will be held online, and is open to Members and Guests of SUP.

Wayne Hinton was active in sports in High School, at Dixie College and then at Utah State University where he earned his BS and Master’s degrees. He graduated with his Doctorate from BYU. Wayne is a member of the Cedar City Chapter and has served as Chapter President and as Area Vice President with SUP. Wayne has also served in the Scouting Program and received the Silver Beaver Award. He has served as Counselor in two Bishoprics, Bishop, High Counselor, a Counselor in a Stake Presidency and as a Stake President. Wayne and his wife served on three missions and as a Temple Ordinance Worker. He has participated in numerous Professional Organizations and given presentations at a number of conferences and Historical Symposiums. Wayne was a Professor of History at Southern Utah University for more than three decades and 18 years as Chair of the Social Science Department.
