Thanks to all who sent in questions for our two excellent candidates for president-elect. If you find your question is not among the five that we settled upon, do know that all questions were carefully considered. We tried to be as inclusive as possible by looking at the main theme of each question, picking the five themes that the majority of questions centered around and then we re-wrote them to try to keep the wording short and to include your main concerns. We are confident the questions that went to our candidates are fair and will elicit answers that will assist you in your voting.
Remember that KSL is doing a re-run of the 2019 pioneer day Parade on July 24, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. This a great opportunity to either watch for the first time or to re-watch last year’s excellent parade. We regret missing the opportunity to be a part of the parade this year, but we understand and support the decision to postpone. We can look back to last year’s parade with gratitude and forward to next year’s Pioneer Day Celebration and parade with great anticipation.
Your feedback regarding the newsletters and pioneer stories is greatly appreciated. It is gratifying to know that so many of the great SUP members are reading the messages and enjoying them. Some of you have expressed concern about how we might appropriately swear in new officers and properly thank outgoing officers. We are still planning and hoping that we can have a swearing in ceremony in December with the planned Chapter Presidents’ Christmas Dinner. It will not be the same as having that ceremony at the annual Encampment, but it is probably the best we can hope for given the current circumstances.
The National Executive Council is very appreciative of our various Board members, our AVP’s, and our chapter officers and our entire membership in how well you have helped our organization navigate these challenging times. We thank all of you for all you have done and all you are doing. We join our faith and prayers with yours for all of our safety and protection and for a swift return to a resumption of our chapter and national activities.
The next issue of the Pioneer is at the printer and will soon be mailed to you. I can assure you that it will be another valuable, enjoyable issue. Bill Tanner, Susan Lofgren, the members of the Editorial Board and the authors have provided us with another outstanding issue and we thank them for going the extra mile to continue getting us this flagship publication during these difficult times.
You are reminded that Pioneer Stories for the Trail Marker are to be sent to David Hinton. If you have one you intend for inclusion in the August issue, get it to David this week.
We all owe a great debt of gratitude to Chad Stowell for his excellent work in getting the Trail Marker and the newsletters to us in an attractive and timely manner. Chad, I do not know what we would do without you. Kudos to you Chad, and to everyone else who works so diligently to keep us functioning. That does include our staff at the National Office: John and Diane in the library and Pat and Linda in the office, and John who works tirelessly as our National Treasurer to keep us financially sound. Thanks to you from all of us
You remain in our prayers. May you all stay well!
