2020 Days of ’47 Update

Following this morning’s on-line meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Days of ’47, Inc., it was announced by Board President Lane Summerhays that in light of current and anticipated circumstances of the Pandemic, all events of the annual Days of ’47 Pioneer Day Celebration scheduled for July will be postponed until July 2021 – including the Parade, Rodeo, Pioneers of Progress Dinner, Sunrise Service, Royalty Pageant, and Pops Concert.

Summerhays emphasized this decision was not taken lightly and was made only after thorough consideration of input from all applicable sources. First priority was given to applicable public health guidelines from State and local officials. The Board acknowledges conditions may change between now and July, but because considerable work needs to be done in the meantime — much of which involves large groups building floats, etc. — a deadline had to be imposed, and the decision had to be made now.

The Board expresses appreciation for all the work that has been done thus far, and wants to assure the public that plans will go forward in earnest for presentation of all events next year — hopefully in ways that will amply compensate for this year’s loss. SUP Note

Due to the recent announcement from the Days of 47 Committee, we have decided to also cancel all of our Days of 47 related events. Although we are extremely disappointed, our primary concern is the health and safety of SUP members and their families. We urge you to keep in communication with your Chapter Leaders and encourage you to check out the new SUP Online website that is being introduced at this time.

We will keep you informed as we make decisions on our upcoming events. As you know, the National Headquarters is closed but we are still here in the office , Monday-Thursday, 10am-5pm, if you have any concerns. Please feel free to call or email!
